I've had the same thoughts if I could put fiberglassed wings on a 4130 welded frame. Aerospace grade foam and epoxy/fiberglass mix should not need reinforcements such a aluminum spars, but I could be wrong. It will need some build up at the welded connection point though, I'm sure.
