On the rate of aeolian sand transport
Web12 de set. de 2024 · Abstract. Most previous studies of aeolian sediment transport have focused on shifting sand surfaces. As a result, sediment transport above gobi (gravel) surfaces is still poorly understood. In this field study, we quantified this transport to provide important support for parameterizing aeolian sediment transport models. We found that … Web12 de jan. de 2024 · This paper presents results of sand transport rate measurements performed on dry and moist sandy surfaces. The main conclusions are: (i) At the same wind conditions, the total sand transport rate is greater on a dry surface than on a moist surface only at low wind velocity (up to 8–10 m/s).

While the moisture level is usually very low in sandy desert areas and thus irrelevant there, the aeolian sand transport on sandy beaches or in the context of coastal dune morphodynamics is expected to be …

For example, aeolian …
WebWe review recent progress in our understanding of aeolian sediment transport, with emphasis on work published since 1985. The current conceptual model of sediment transport is discussed at length, with attention given to problems of definition that have arisen. We discuss in depth the collision (grain impact) and aerodynamic entrainment …
