WebKinetic experiments have conclusively shown that electron transfer can take place over large distances (greater than 10 angstroms) through protein interiors. Current research focuses on the elucidation of the factors that determine the rates of long-range electron-transfer reactions in modified proteins and protein complexes. WebWe observed rates of heme-to-heme electron transfer on the order of 109 s−1 (3.7 to 4.3 Å edge-to-edge distance), in good agreement with predictions based on density functional and molecular dynamics calculations. These rates are among the highest reported for ground-state electron transfer in biology.
The FMN to Heme Electron Transfer in Cytochrome P450BM-3
WebPhotosynthetic reaction centers convert light energy into chemical energy in a series of transmembrane electron transfer reactions, each with near 100% yield. The structures of reaction centers reveal two symmetry-related branches of cofactors (denoted A and B) that are functionally asymmetric; purple bacterial reaction centers use the A pathway … tarim kota seribu wali

WebCytochrome P450 monooxygenases (P450s) are versatile biocatalysts used in natural products biosynthesis, xenobiotic metabolisms, and biotechnologies. In P450s, the electrons required for O 2 activation are supplied by NAD (P)H through stepwise electron transfers (ETs) mediated by redox partners. WebProteins achieve efficient energy storage and conversion through electron transfer along a series of redox cofactors. Multiheme cytochromes are notable examples. These proteins … WebFig. 3.
