WebJun 10, 2011 · This round tower is visible from a great distance, its height is about 23 metres and at the base it has a diameter of about 4.30 metres. Actually it's one of the tallest round towers in Ireland and it's still in good conditions. The roof is missing, though. The doorway is 3.30 metres from the ground and faces northeast (60°). WebFertagh or Grangefertagh, is about 4km from the village of Johnstown, Co. Kilkenny. It’s easy to spot from a distance because it is rather tall. It is a shame that only a small fragment of its cap remains because if it was rebuilt, it would become the tallest round tower in Ireland. Maybe somebody needs to sort that out! 😀
