Bismuth chelate
Bismuth subsalicylate, sold generically as pink bismuth and under the brand names Pepto-Bismol and BisBacter, is an antacid medication used to treat temporary discomforts of the stomach and gastrointestinal tract, such as nausea, heartburn, indigestion, upset stomach, and diarrhea. Bismuth subsalicylate has the empirical chemical formula C7H5BiO4, and is a Web9.20.3.1.12 Bismuth and Lead. Since 212 Pb is the parent radionuclide of 212 Bi, it has been used as a means of delivering 212 Bi to cancer cells. The 212 Pb is complexed to an appropriate chelate (generally a DOTA analog) and then injected into animals to deliver the 212 Bi complex, which is generated on decay of 212 Pb.
